TRT and the Quality of Life for Women over 75
Sharings from TRTIA Project:
Improving the Quality of Life for Women over 40
Authorized Instructors Ann Healy and Katherine Lenel, in cooperation with
TRTIA, designed a project to support women over 40 with the aging process. Ann
and Katherine are both over 40 and have studied TRT for many years.
They realize the tremendous benefit of using TRT to improve the
quality of their own lives and want to support other women in doing this. There
is an ongoing need for the benefits of TRT especially for women in
our culture. A survey was designed to elicit sharings from the participants for
use in the TRTIA ongoing collection of experiential data.
The participants in this project shared the following list of
issues related to their quality of life as women over 40:
self-esteem, loneliness, depression, sustaining relationships,
memory problems, weight loss, self-acceptance, the "doldrums," stress,
lack of confidence, worry over finances, loss of youth, lack of
energy, wanting to positively influence others
Just a few of the entries selected from The Expanded Reference
Manual of The Radiance Technique for the specific benefit of the
participants are:
Quality of Life, Stress, Rest, Restore, Well, Wellness, Memory,
Energizing/Revitalizing, Self-confident, Self-help, Zest, Play
How are you using The Radiance Technique for support in your
daily life?
Shirley: I am using Hands-On with imagery to counter an illness I
caught after our first session. It has kept me going.
Lisa: Hands-On to release stress; for relaxing and I am sleeping
better; for support with pre-menopause symptoms; support for myself
and my cat, Madeline, during her health illness; for lifting
depression
Allison: Head every morning; full body twice a day
Describe the ways you use TRT .
Shirley: Shorter series of hands-on positions; single hands-on
positions in the course of daily life
Lisa: Full hands-on session before I get up; head positions in the
middle of the night; Heart Center, Back Positions #1 and #4 during
work
Allison: Full treatment at least once and usually twice a day;
short head positions every morning
In what situations do you find TRT especially helpful? Describe
how you use TRT in those situations and what you experience or
sense.
Shirley: Particularly touching my chest as central touch calms me
and centers me so I can focus, rest and feel self-control and inner
peace. It's a feeling of wellness. While feeling physically unwell
recently it gave me a balance I didn't have otherwise.
Lisa: When releasing stress after work; during stress at work;
driving to and from work in traffic; I sense calmness, relaxation,
sleepiness, peace, clarity, more energy and motivation
Allison: I use Hands-on with imagery and focus on daily goals; I
think it has improved my imagery.
What has changed in your daily life, or in your experience, since learning
TRT ?
Shirley: Not that there has been a change in my life but there is a
peacefulness, a coping mechanism to utilize I hadn't had. Before I had
to just "make it" without having a tool to reinforce confidence and
well-being.
Lisa: Tons of peaks and valleys of emotion; higher energy and
sustained energy; lack of procrastination; a tad more interested in
tackling mundane tasks
Allison: Helps waking up in the morning which after 43 years,
nothing else has; mental clarity is much sharper than coffee has ever
been and I am using less and less coffee
Are there specifics hands-on positions you prefer? Do you use those positions
more often? If so, how long do you use them, and how often?
Shirley: I like touching my head on all sides for calmness and
quiet. Again, I am not quiet by nature. My mind and thoughts churn and
spin in skip-sequence to multi-level thoughts . . . so this brings me
to a quiet place where I can meditate, rejuvenate and worship with my
God in my way.
Lisa: All head positions and often for an hour in and of
themselves; I use Heart Center position a lot throughout the day all
on its own.
Allison: Head Position #2; sometimes several minutes longer
"It's great there is such a simple technique for helping
yourself."
"Head Position #2 wakes me up clearer than coffee ever
does!"
"This technique is such a gift. Thank-you so much for doing
this."
